From the Thursday, April 8, 1926 Hawarden Independent:

Mrs. Anna Wright Laid to Rest

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Wright, of whose death we made brief mention last week, were held from the First Presbyterian church at 2:30 last Friday afternoon with Rev. Neil Stewart of Boyden in charge. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Wright began to fail about three weeks before her death but at first her ailment was not considered of a serious nature but when she did not respond to medical treatment she was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital at LeMars where she submitted to an operation. Because of her weakened condition she was unable to withstand the ordeal and she grew gradually weaker and passed away at six o'clock Tuesday evening, March 30th, at the age of 59 years and 23 days. All that human agents could do to aid in her recovery was done and she was surrounded with loving care which made her last days more comfortable. Upon several occasions during her last illness she spoke of leaving her earthly home and said she was ready and willing to abide by the will of her Heavenly Father. She chose her own pall bearers before she passed away.

Annie Curel Campbell was born at Hanover, Ill., March 7, 1867, where she resided until the spring of 1892. She was united in marriage with Albert J. Wright October 31, 1888, at Hanover, Ill. In the spring of 1892 she came to Ireton where her husband engaged in the harness business until the time of his death Nov. 20, 1910. She united with the First Presbyterian church at Hanover, Ill., at an early age, and later she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian church of Ireton of which she was a charter member. She was a consistent church worker and always interested in the higher things of life and the work of her Master.

She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Edna Satterlee of Blue Earth, Minn., and Alta M. Wright of Ireton, who was at home with her mother. She is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Hammond of Beloit, Wis., and two brothers, John W. Campbell of Preston, Iowa, and G. E. Campbell of Ireton, and many other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Campbell and son Harold, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Wright of Redwood Falls, Minn., Mrs. W. F. Hammond of Beloit, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Satterlee and daughter Corrine of Blue Earth, Minn., E. R. Campbell of Woonsocket, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright, Mrs. W. J. Taylor and Mrs. Walter Schuette of Hawarden, Rev. and Mrs. Neil Stewart of Boyden and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown, Wm. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Plumb of Paullina.

Poster's note: Anna Wright was the daughter of Mary J. Miller (could be Marg) and John Campbell (source: 1925 Iowa census).
