Verne C. Keough Dies at Age 57

Verne C. Keough, 57, well known at Ireton and Maurice where he resided on a farm a number of vears, died January 15 at his home in Cedar Falls. Funeral services were held at St. James Catholic church in Le Mars Friday morning.

He was born at Maurice, September 23, 1890, and married Molly Nicholson at Charles City March 6, 1920. Mr. Keough was a livestock buyer at Le Mars and Sioux City for many years. He moved to Waterloo in 1943 and to Cedar Falls in 1951.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Richard of Indianapolis, Clyde of Big Rock, Ia., W. Randall of Sioux City, three daughters, Miss Dorothy of Cedar Fails, Mrs. Donald De Jager of Clinton and Mrs. Jack Welch of Waterloo; three brothers, Leo H. Keough of Sioux City, Loy B; Keough and Fay Keough, both of New York City, and 14 grandchildren.

Poster's note: Iowa birth and christening records indicate that Verne's full name was John Verne Keough, the son of John Keough. In the 1925 Iowa census, Verne gives his parents names as Katharine (Foley) and John Keough.
