Effie Van Oort, 94, of Orange City, died Thursday morning in the Orange City Hospital following a brief illness.
Services were held Monday in the First Reformed Church Chapel, Orange City. Rev. Cecil Martens and Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiated. Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Effie was born September 28, 1891, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Ravestein) Van Oort at rural Orange City.

She was a lifelong Orange City area resident and had lived in the Pioneer Home prior to moving to the Heritage House four years ago. She was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include one brother, Peter Van Oort; two sisters, Mrs. Nick (Coba) Wielenga and Mrs. Adrain (Jennie) Vander Wilt, all of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Van Oort and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Reka) Fikse.
