Mrs. Pereboom Dies at Age 87

Services Held Sunday for Longtime resident of Hawarden and Ireton Vicinities

Mrs. Margaret Pereboom, 87, a resident of the Hawarden and Ireton vicinities for 63 years, died at her home in Ireton last Friday. Her last illness of but two days was due to extreme heat and advanced age.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at SL Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton with Rev. H. W. Krieger in charge. Interment was in the Ireton cemetery. Mrs. Delbert Dittmer and Mrs. Kenneth Goodmanson sang "Rock of Ages" with Mrs. Orville Mueller at the organ. Pall bearers were Wm. Treiber, Albert Wegner, Curt Richardson,
Fred Johnson, Henry Braaks and Chris Westergard. Many friends from Hawarden, Le Mars and Akron attended the services.

Mrs. Pereboom was born October 19, 1859, in Germany. She came to the United States in 1880. She was married to John Pereboom at Mount Olive, Ill., in 1881. She came to Sioux county in 1884 and lived on a farm nine miles northeast of Hawarden. In 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Pereboom retired and moved to Ireton.

Survivors are six sons, William and Herman, both of Enid, Okla.; G. F. of Helena, Okla.; H. W. of Le Mars; Theodore of Los Angeles, Calif.; and A. E. of Hawarden; and four daughters, Mrs. C. J. Vosburg of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. H. Johnson of Enid, Okla.; Mrs. M. Edwards of Denison, Iowa, and Miss Mary Pereboom of Ireton.

All of her children were called home and arrived before she passed away.

Poster's note: John Pereboom's (Margaret's husband) gives her maiden name as Gretje De Buhr. In the 1925 Iowa census, she gives her name and Gretje and says that her parents were Anika (Schlachter) and Hajo (or Heye) DeBuhr.
