Mrs. Jeanette Van Oort , 79, of Orange City died Wednesday in the Sheldon Hospital after a long illness . Services were held Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Newkirk Reformed Church. Rev. Eugene Voss officiated; Burial was in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mrs. Van Oort Was born July 22, 1906 at Newkirk, the daughter of Jake and Ida (Vellinga ) Van Rooyen. She married Tony Van Oorts Jan 26, 1938 at Newkirk. They farmed 46 years in the Middleburg area and retired to Orange City in 1974, Mrs. Van Oort died Mar. 11, 1980. She became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home at Sheldon in late 1982. Mrs. Van Oort was a member of Newkirk Reformed Church and the Mission Fellowship Ladies Society of the church.

Survivors include two granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Yvonne) Blohm of Reinbeck and Mrs. Harry (Lora) Vander Pol of Alton; a sister, Mrs. Kate Huisman of Sioux Center; two brothers, Walter and William, both of Orange City; two granddaughter ;three step granddaughter, six great-grand children and one step great grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Elvina
