Mrs. Lyle Schlumbohm
Mrs. Lyle Schlumbohm, 53, Hawarden, died Wednesday night at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the American Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Hansen officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schlumbohm, the former Laura Downing, was born August 12, 1924 at Oto, Iowa. She was married July 10, 1945, at rural Sioux Center. She had lived in the area since 1945, moving to town in 1967.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, She had taught school at North Sioux City for the past several years.
Survivors include her widower: three sons, Bart, Judd and Scott, all of Hawarden; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Waterman of Hawarden; three grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Ethel Downing of Sioux City; two brothers, Paul of Smithland and Mark of Anthon; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Thelma) Farber of Anthon, Mrs. Roy (Aprilla) Downing of Oto and Mrs. Alice Hirst of Smithland.
