Former Ireton Resident Dies

Funeral services for Roland La Verne Morrison, 62, of Modesto, Calif., former Ireton resident. who died July 19 in Memorial hospital after a long illness, were held at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, July 21, at Franklin and Downs Funeral home. Rev. Dale Sherwood officiated with burial in Lakewood Memorial park.

Mr. Morrison, born in Ireton in 1903, was employed by Abe Gardner there prior to moving to California.

He was a city mail carrier for 30 years and retired on a disability retirement three months ago. He was a member of Modesto Branch 1291 National Association of Letter Carriers.

Mr. Morrison and his two brothers had a combined total service of 110 years with the post office department.

Survivors include the widow, Olivia Connie Morrison; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce A. Vaughn, both of Modesto; a stepson, Charles H. Dow of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Edwin L. and Roscoe C. Morrison, both of Modesto, and four grandchildren.
