A 37 year old farmer died on Monday night following an accident at his farm located eight miles northeast of Hull. He was Walter Tiedeman, son of John and Emma (Lutjens) Tiedeman, who may be remembered by many as a softball player on the Hull team a few years ago and more recently a pitcher on the Boyden softball team.

As the accident was reported to the news, Tiedeman and his brothers, Hubert and Ben, were loading bailed hay into the mow in the barn on the farm. Walter had been in the mow and decided to slide down the hay rope to the load on the wagon. In making his descend, however, he struck the upright handle of a hay fork which was stuck in a bundle just below the rope and was impaled on the fork handle. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but died on the operating table at about 10 P. M.

Funeral services will be held at the home Friday at 1:30 P. M. and at 2 o’clock at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Hull.
Survivors include his widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Tiedeman of Rock Rapids; his brothers, Berend, Ferdinand and Hubert of Hull; and sisters, Bertha (Mrs. Ivan Anderson of Doon), Loretta (Mrs. Arnold Olson of Rock Rapids), and Dorothy (Mrs. Herb McCormick of Rock Rapids.)
