Rites Held For Mrs. Lindenman

Services Conducted Saturday For Woman Who Came to This Vicinity 43 Years Ago

Ireton — Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. Lindenman, 78, who died last Wednesday at the Hawarden hospital were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. E. J. Plummet of Marcus in charge. Interment was in the local cemetery.

A choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Simons, Mrs. George Rose and Marlin Eilts sang "All the Way My Savior Leads" and "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me," with Mrs. A. W. Bartlett as accompanist. A male quartet composed of Rev. Plummer, Lloyd Simons, Marlin Eilts and Charles Houlton sang "Beautiful Land."

Pall bearers were Glenn McCrory, Arthur Bartlett, Hans Swanson, Geo. Rose, Wyram Knowlton and Arthur Kluter.

Mrs. Lindenman died after an illness of more than two years during which time her condition was critical. A combination of heart trouble and hardening of the arteries were causes of death.

Born in Switzerland October 28, 1870, as Rosina Sagar, she grew to womanhood there and in 1888 married Gottfried Miller. Two years later they came to America, settling at Lorimer, Pa., where Mr. Miller was a coal miner. He was injured in a mine mishap which later caused his death. Five children were horn to this union: Oswald of Irwin, Pa., John of Madison, Pa., William of Ireton, Mrs. Rose Gaede of Finlayson, Minn., and Mrs. Lena Clausen of Rosburg, Ore.

In the spring of 1906, Mrs. Miller and the four younger children came to Ireton and March 3, 1906, she married J. A. Lindenman. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Martha Olson of Des Moines, Clare Lindenman of Los Angeles, Walter of Coos Bay, Ore., and Gilbert, who preceded his mother in death. Other survivors are ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four step-children, who are Mrs. Emma Cooper of Ireton, Mrs. Freda Hill of LaHarpe, Kan., F. W. Lindenman of Colton, Calif., and Arthur of San Bernardino, Calif.

She was a faithful member of the Methodist church for 40 years.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services included Mr. and Mrs. Albert Moser of Vermillion, S. D., Mrs. Wm. Kratochvil and Mrs. Bud Kane of Hawarden, Fred Pluss of Sioux Falls, E. A. Lindenman and Miss Mary of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poll and Mrs. Marie McCrory of Le Mars and Pier D. Aldershof of Cedar Rapids.
