William Van Den Top Dr., 70, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, March 31, 1992, at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. of cancer.

Services were held at 1:30pm Friday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Roger Sparks officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Den Top was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Alvord, the son of Jake and Minnie (Burggraaf) Van Den Top. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 21, 1942, until Nov. 20, 1945. He married Arlene Van Beek Feb. 26, 1948, in ROck Valley. The couple farmed north of Rock Valley until 1984, when they retired and moved to Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Den Top was a member of the Rock Valley Christian School Board, the Men's Society and Consistory Board of Calvin Christian Reformed Church, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, and their wives, Bill J. and Helen of Rock Valley and Don and Cindy of Tampa, Fla; two daughters and their husbands, Dee and Arlin Bomgaars of Hull and Jan and Kelly Reitsma of Sioux Center; his mother, Minnie Van Den Top of Doon; seven brothers and their wives, Gerrit J. and Jennette and Elmer and Grace, all of Rock Valley, Albert and Rika, Minard and Cora, Peter K. and Wilmina, and John D. and Gertrude, all of Doon, and Andrew and Ellen of Lynden, Wash; a sister and her husband, Alice and Ed Van Ginkel of Doon; three grandsons; and five granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jake, and an infant daughter.
