Mr. John “Jack” Van Middendorp, 80, of rural Verdale died at his home Monday, September 13, 1993.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Thursday, September 16,at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Verndale. Rev. Fred Kutter will be officiating. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery with Bielema Funeral Home-Verdale Chapel in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 P. M. with Prayer Service at 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Also one hour prior at the church.
Mr. Van Middendorp was born April 8, 1913 in the Netherlands to John and Jenny (Beckker) Van Middendorp. He married Jeanette Rens December 4, 1935 in Rock Valley, Iowa.

John was educated in the Rock Valley rural schools. He farmed for awhile in the Rock Valley area, before moving to Los Angles, California during WW 2. In 1951, they moved to Hewitt and farmed for six years, then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he worked for Safeway Foods, as a warehouseman, for 20 years. Retiring in 1977. Returning to the area and living south of Verndale. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and Teamsters.

Survivors include his wife Jeanette; one daughter, Mrs. Betty(Bob) Kempe of Verndale; two grandsons, Brad and Rod Kempe; five great-grandchildren; Jason, Ryan, John, Kayle and Cathy; one brother, Teunis Van Middendorp of Rock Valley.

John was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
