George Vander Helm, 63, of Hawarden, died Monday, March 10, in the hospital at Hawarden.

Services were at 1:30pm Friday in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Vander Helm was born July 30, 1916, at Ireton.

He married Vivian Schiefen July 15, 1942, at Dakota City, Nebr. They lived in Mora, Minn., from 1948 until November of 1977 when they moved to Hawarden.

Survivors include the widow; one son, Duane, with the U.S. Army in Germany; two grandchildren; five brothers, Allen of Akron, Henry and John, both of Hawarden, Sam of Braham, Minn., and Basil of Sioux Center; and one sister, Mrs. H.J. (Marie) Obbink of Sioux Center.
