Nancy Vande Zandschulp, 61, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday at 10:15AM at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00AM at First Reformed Church with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating.

The Vande Zandschulp family prefers memorials be directed to Sioux Center Home Health & Hospice.

Nancy Joan (Renken) Vande Zandschulp was born on January 17, 1952 to William Sr. and Hilda (Popken) Renken in Le Mars, Iowa. She was raised near Brunsville, Iowa on the family farm. She received her education through at Brunsville Country School and graduated from Le Mars Community High School. She continued her education at WITCC in Cherokee for her Licensed Practical Nurse diploma and license.

She married Marvin Dean Vande Zandschulp on April 20, 1974 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Brunsville. Nancy’s first nursing job was at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars for four years. Nancy worked at the Sioux Center Community Hospital as an LPN for two years. She continued to work as a LPN at Pleasant Acres Care Center for six years. She worked at Sioux Center Community Middle School in the lunch program for twelve years until her retirement.

Nancy is a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She enjoyed baking her ever so special brownies with her boiled frosting, having tea with her lady friends and visiting on the phone.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Marvin Vande Zandschulp of Sioux Center; three daughters: Ellen DeJong-Pedersen of Sioux Center, Gwen Vande Zandschulp of Sioux Falls, SD and Lora Nyhof and her husband, Greg of South Sioux City, NE; her four grandchildren: Jade DeJong, Blake DeJong, Brady DeJong Pedersen, and Delanie DeJong Pedersen all of Sioux Center. Nancy is also survived by brothers and sisters: William Jr. (Janice) Renken, Rodney (Sarah) Renken, Marlyn (Mary) Renken all of Brunsville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Conrad (Kathy) Vande Zandschulp of Cedar Rapids, IA; Marlene (Darrell) Kooi of Harrisburg, SD; Harlan (Judy) Vande Zandschulp of Sioux City; Janice (Hank) Hight of Parker, SD; Jim (Trish) Vande Zandschulp of Orange City; Jeris (Carla) Vande Zanschulp of Sioux Center and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Hilda Renken; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Nellie Vande Zandschulp, a sister in infancy, Ellen Marie Renken and several aunts and uncles.
