Ryan Gene Vande Griend, 16, son of Jeffrey and Nancy Vande Griend of Sibley, died Friday, November 9, of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident in Bigelow, Minnesota.

Services were at Christian Reformed Church in Sibley on Tuesday, the Rev. Bill Can Hal officiating. Burial was at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Vande Griend was born November 25, 1973, at Spirit Lake. He lived in Milford with his family, moving to Sibley in 1977. He attended Sibley Christian Grade School and was presently a junior at Faith Christian High School in Bigelow. He was active in basketball, soccer, choir and band.

He was a baptized member of Sibley Christian Reformed Church, where he was a member of Young People's Society.

Survivors are his parents; a brother, Derek, and two sisters, Amber and Chelsie Jo, all of Sibley; his grandparents, Jerace and Clarice Vande Griend of Hull and Tena Dolieslager of Orange City; and great-grandparents, Floyd and Nelva Vande Griend of Hull.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, gerrit C. Dolieslager, Jr., great-grandparents, Gerrit Sr. and Cornelia Dolieslager, Albert and Anna Houtsma and Jake and Agnes Dykstra; and and uncle, Nelton Dean Dolieslager.
