Fred Van Ness, a former Canton resident, died Wednesday in the Hegg Memorial Hospital, Rock Valley. He was 91 and lived at the Valley Manor Nursing Home.

He was born February 2, 1892, in Holland and came to the United States in 1912. He married Fannie Vierda November 30, 1917, in Rock Valley. They farmed in Fairview, South Dakota until 1931. They then moved to Canton and lived there until 1978 when they moved to the Valley Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Cecil, Rock Valley; three daughters Gertrude Sands, Worthington, Minnesota, Annabelle Oldenkamp, of Canton, and Alice Eiesland, Hillman, Minnesota; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday in the First Baptist Church, Canton. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. Visiting hours were held from 2 to 9 P. M. Thursday in the Anderson Funeral Home, Canton.
