Everdene Docter
March 12, 1911-Sept. 5, 2002

BOYDEN - Everdene Docter, 91, Boyden, died Thursday, Sept. 5, at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the First Reformed Church in Boyden. A graveside service will precede the service of 10 a.m. at Sheridan Township Cemetery in Boyden. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, with family present 2-4 pm. at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Everdene Docter, daughter of John and Grace (Helmink) Schneider, was born March 12, 1911, in Holland, NE. She received her education in Holland, NE. She married Martin Docter on Sept. 27, 1934, in Holland, NE. They farmed in the Holland area until 1952, when they moved to and farmed near Boyden. They moved into Boyden in 1949. She entered Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon in April 1990. Mr. Docter died June 13, 1996 in Sheldon.

She was a faithful member of First Reformed Church in Boyden, where she was a catechism teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed camping, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy and Norman Prange of Sheldon, Shirley and Kenneth Baartman of Boyden, and Ardith Docter of Sheldon; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Ben Schneider of Montevideo, MN, and Harold and Wilma Schneider of Rock Valley; and a sister-in-law, Hermina Schneider of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Docter; a brother, Gerrit Schneider; and a sister-in-law, Gert Schneider.
