Follena Dieterman
Nov. 6, 1907-Jan. 21, 2001

SHELDON-Follena Dieterman, 93, Sheldon, died Sunday, Jan. 21, at Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. Services were Thursday, Jan. 25, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. David Brower officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Follena Dieterman, the daughter of Jacob J. and Hendrika Sophia (Moret) Nieuwendorp, was born Nov. 6, 1907, near Orange City. She received her education in a country school near Sheldon. She married Herman Dieterman on Dec. 4, 1929, in Sheldon. The couple farmed in Grant Township for many years, until retiring in 1974. Mr. Dieterman died April 24, 1987, in Sheldon. She remained in the family home until moving to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. She became a resident of the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn on Nov. 27, 1990.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheldon, and formerly a member of the Reformed Church Women's Ministries. She was also a member of the Women's Farm Bureau of Grant Township. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Jason and Denise Dieterman of Westminster, CA; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Herman Dieterman.
