Hawarden - Anna Vander Lugt, 99, of Hawarden died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Nathan DeVries officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Vander Lugt was born Jan. 3, 1903, in Firth, Neb., the daughter of John W. & Rennie (Andringa) Obbink.
She moved with her family to the Hawarden area in 1916. She married Neal Vander Lugt on Feb. 4, 1926, in Hawarden. They farmed in the Hawarden area until they retired in 1969. He died Aug. 7, 1974.
She moved to Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden in July 1992.
She volunteered many hours crocheting baby blankets for the local Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. She was a charter member of the Hawarden Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include a sister, Emma Dirksen of Rock Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, R. J. Obbink, William Obbink and Henry Obbink, and a sister, Bertha DeGraaf.
