Leonard J. Vander Lugt, formerly of Sioux County, died from heart failure in his home in Chicago last week, Wednesday, Nov. 10. The funeral was held Saturday in the First Christian Reformed Church of Roseland, Rev. M. Arnoys officiating. He is survived by his wife (nee Alice Zwiers) and two children. He was 50 years old and had been active for 18 years as a teacher in a technical high school in Chicago until the time of his death.

Mr. Vander Lugt came to Sioux County from Holland in 1914 with two of his brothers. Later his parents came over with the younger children. Brothers and sisters surviving him are: Gerrit, Dick, Neal, Mrs. Pete Dale, Mrs. Walter Zwiers, Mrs. Adrian Dekker, Mrs. John Kooi all of Sioux County, Pete of Chicago, and Mrs. Nellie Vander Lugt of Grand Rapids.

Information from the Hawarden obit: Son of Mr. & Mrs. William Vander Lugt. Born June 10, 1899 in The Netherlands. One time farmed southeast of Hawarden. He married Alice Zwier of Colton, SD. 26 years ago. Has 2 foster children, Roger, 11, and Nancy 3.
