George - William Timmer, 85, George, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Services were Friday, Jan. 18, at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church in rural George, with Pastor Dwight Chamberlain officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in George, under the direction of Bolin Funeral Home in George.

William Timmer, son of William & Marie (Walters) Timmer, was born May 30, 1916, in Mountain Lake, MN. His family moved to the Little Rock area, where he attended country school. He married Earleene Chadwick on Oct. 14, 1940. They farmed in the George area until retiring in George.

He was a member of Lyon County Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, trustee, deacon and elder. He loved gardening, doing stained glass, woodworking and playing cards with friends.

Survivors include a son, Leslie W. & Judy Timmer of George; three daughters, Lorene & Daryl Wessels of George; Diana Kruse of Brandon, SD, and Kathy Timmer of Washington, D.C.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earleen Timmer, a daughter, Shirley Bruns, a granddaughter, Robin Wessels, two brothers, Henry Timmer and Pete Timmer.
