Mrs. W. A. Van Steenwyk died at her home on Tuesday January 11, at the age of 78 years. At the age of 18 years she came from the Netherlands and for some years she lived in Pella where she was married to A. Herwynen .

Some years later her husband died leaving his widow and 3 small children the fourth child being born a short time after the father’s death.

Some time later the widow came to Orange City with her four children and in 1880 she was married to Mr. A. W. Van Steenwyk. Six more children were born to this union, leaving at present 10 children, 30 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters to mourn her death. Mr. Van Steenwyk died in Sep 1893. The funeral services were held from the First Ref. Church Rev. Coenbrander and Rev. Hyikema? Officiating.
