Sheldon-Funeral services for Andrew Vande Berg, 88, were held Friday, May 17, 1985 at 1:30 p.m., in the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Tenckinck officiated with burial in the Eastlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Vande Berg passed away May 14, at the Sheldon Community Memorial Hospital Nursing Wing. The Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Sheldon, was in charge of the arrangements.

The son of Henry & Anna (Nieuwenhuis) Vande Berg, he was born Nov. 18, 1896. He served in the United States Army during World War I and was employed at Big 4 most of his life. He married Irma Heiden, Dec. 16, 1921, in Ashton. She passed away Feb. 5.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bette Deerson, Excelsior, MN; and Mrs. Ron (Carla) Ommen, LeMars; one son, Andrew "Bud" Mitchell, SD; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters and five brothers.
