HENRIETTA VONK.

Henrietta Vonk, 75, of Sioux Center, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at Sioux Center Community Health Center. Family services were held on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 9:45 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. James Greendyke officiated.

Henrietta was born Aug. 9, 1923 near Alvord, the daughterof Jacob and Jeanette (Vande Hoef) Van Voorst. She married George Vonk on July 23, 1943 in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Ireton. They retired and moved into Sioux Center in 1986. She was employed with Sioux Center Nursing Facility for 13 years. The couple wintered in Arizona. Mrs. Vonk was a member of Dorcas Society and Heritage Reformed Church in Hull. She enjoyed baking, handiwork and reading.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Bennie J. and his wife Kathleen of Ireton, Larry of Maurice, Glenn of Fairview, S.D., and Bruce and his wife Sue of Sioux Center; three daughters and their husbands, Jan and Ken Faber and Sharon and Jim Boeyink, all of Sioux Center, and Bonnie and Roger Fedders of Ireton; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Hoogendoorn and Jeanette and her husband Bill Van Den Top, all of Rock Valley; two brothers and their wives, Maurice and Lucy of Rock Valley and James and Greta of Sioux Center; and three sisters-in-law, Jennie Van Voorst of Rock Valley, Alice Van Voorst of Sioux Center and Jeanette Van Voorst of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Sam, John, Henry, William, Harry and Jake; two sisters, Marie and Henrietta
in infancy; and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia.

Mrs. Vonk was born to Jacob and Jeanette (Vande Hoef) Van Voorst August 9, 1923, on a farm near Alvord. She married George Vonk in Sioux Center July 23, 1943. They spent most of their married life on a farm near Ireton. They retired and moved to Sioux Center in 1986. She was employed at the Sioux Center Nursing Facility for 13 years. She also enjoyed wintering in Arizona.
