William Herman Wilken, Sr.

William Herman Wilken, Sr. 65, of rural Ireton, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center. Funeral service was Monday at the Associated Church in Hawarden, with Pastor Char Fillingsness officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Ireton was in charge of arrangements.

William Wilken, Sr., was born July 2,1936 the son of Eilert and Ruth (Heubrock) Wilken, in rural Plymouth County. He was united in marriage to Mary Van Ballegooyen on Nov. 10, 1958 in Minnesota. They farmed in the Ireton area. He was a member of the Associated Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include: Wife, Mary; three daughters, Kathlene Vonk of Ireton, Connie Snyder of Sioux Falls, and Cindy Havelaar of Hudson, S.D.; one son, William Jr. of Hawarden; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Jean Carlson of Hawarden; one niece, Ann Prekker and one greatniece, Elizabeth Glinski. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Ruth of three months; and parents.
