Leo H. Van Engen, 67, died Sunday, Oct. 17,1999, in Escondido. Born July 10,1932, in Hull, IA, he lived in San Marcos. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 in Korea and was a member of Crossroads Christian Reformed Church.

Mr. Van Engen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dotty Van Engen of San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Rose Van Engen of Spicer, MN, Hank and Max Van Engen of Escondido, Dennis and Kathy Van Engen of Sioux Center, IA, and Dan Van Engen of San Marcos; daughters and son-in-law Susan Van Zante and Shelly and Steve Katje, all of San Marcos, sisters and brothers-in-law Jane and John Van Someren of Baldwin, WI, and Aivina and Ike Van Someren of Edina, MN.; grandchildren Matthew, David, Jeremy, Joshua, Emily, Kate, Linsay, Kayla, Shelby, Cody, Mandy, Billee, Lucas, Victoria and Sarah; and greatgranddaughter Ashley.

Visitation and view were held Oct. 19 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, with a memorial service on Oct. 20 at Crossroads Christian Reformed Church. A private inurnment was held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
