Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 29, for Mrs. Hessel Dykstra, 94, of Sheldon, mother of Jerry Dykstra of Sioux Center, who died January 26 at the Sheldon hospital. Services were conducted by the Rev. Harris Verkaik and burial was in East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon.

Mrs. Dykstra, the former Gertie Vander Zwaag, was born January 28, 1878, at South Holland, Ill. The family moved to a farm near Orange City in 1887. She married Hessel Dykstra March 10, 1899. The couple farmed near Middleburg for many years prior to retiring in 1928 and moving into Sheldon. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include five sons, Jerry of Sioux Center, Henry of LeMars, John of Bellflower, Calif.. Ben of Hull and Hessel of Sanborn; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Stientjes of Des Moines, Mrs. Susan Dean of Bellflower and Mrs. Ralph Hylst of Hospers; 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
