CHARLES MIEDEMA.
Funeral services for Charles Miedema were held Wednesday, September 30, at the home at 1:00 and 1:30 at the First Christian Reformed church with Rev. H. C. Huissen officiating. Interment took place in Valley View cemetery with six grandsons acting as pall bearers. Mr. Miedema died at the Sioux Valley hospital Saturday, September 26, 1953.

Charles Miedema was born December 5, 1866 in Tzummarum, Friesland, Netherlands. He married Frieda Van Dyk, November 17, 1887. Eight children were born to this union, four of whom preceeded him in death, two in infancy, a daughter Tjitske at the age of 18 and one son John in 1936.

He is survived by four children, Sam of Fairview; Hilda, Mrs. Harry Halma of Inwood; Tjitse [*Tjitske?] in Kollum, the Netherlands; and Rena, Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink. He is also survived by grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

[*Note: Another death obit recorded that:
“.......... He came to America in 1920 with his wife and family and settled on a farm near Orange City and shortly after that moved to Ireton where they lived only a short time. After this they moved to Rock Valley where he spent the remainder of his life .................”].
