Mrs. Matilda Schoep, age 80, of Orange City, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1991 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Matilda Mae was born April 24,1911 at Orange City, the daughter of John and Allie (Te Paske) Lubbers. She was raised at Orange City. On Feb. 24,1933 she married Gerald Clifford Schoep at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City until 1942 when they moved to Norfolk, Neb. In 1955 they moved to Omaha, Neb., and in 1961 to Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Schoep died Sept. 18,1966 at Lincoln, Neb. A few years later Mrs. Schoep moved to Fort Dodge.

In the early 1970s she returned to Orange City. While living in Omaha and Kansas City, she was employed by the Sears Company. She was also director of the YWCA in Fort Dodge and a housemother at Northwestern College in Orange City. Mrs. Schoep was an active member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City and the Peace Circle of the church. She also belonged to the Orange City Federated Women's Club.

Survivors include her four children, John Clifford and his wife Jacque of St. Louis, Mo., Vernon Ray and his wife Janis of Boulder, Colo., Mary Leone and her husband Gary Zaruba of Kearney, Neb., and Gerald Mark and his wife Carol of Joplin, Mo., eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Edward and Ray Lubbers, both of Orange City, and sister, June Soppeland of Fort Dodge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Kleinwolterink and Elsie Landhuis, and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Trinity Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Donald De Glopper officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Ellen-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
