Funeral Pioneer Held Saturday.

Funeral for the late Mrs. R. (Jane)Lubbers, who died August 12, were held Saturday afternoon, at the Otto Mouw home and at the First Reformed church at Orange City, Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Burial was at the Orange City cemetery. A very large number attended the services for the pioneer.

Mrs. Lubbers was 82 years and two months of age when death came to relieve her sufferings. She had been ill for about two years. The pioneer of Northwest Iowa was born at Vriesland, Michigan, on June 13, 1849. She came to Sioux county in 1884, residing on the farm south of Orange City until 1904, spending the balance of her life in that town.

She was married to R. Lubbers at Zeeland, Mich., in the winter of 1869. A daughter of the early Sioux county pioneer, T. Heemstra. Mrs. Lubbers did not come to Sioux county as early as the rest of the family, but moved here with her own family in the early eighties. Her husband died eight years ago. She was a long time member of the First Ref. church of Orange City.

Six children survive, as follows: Mrs. B. Vande Aarde, Orange City; Rev. F. Lubbers of Doon; Henry Lubbers, John Lubbers; Mrs. Otto Mouw and Bert Lubbers, all of Orange City. Two brothers and two sisters also survive: Mr. Albert Heemstra of Orange City; Rev. J. F. Heemstra of Hudsonville, Mich.; Mrs. M. VerBurg of Orange City; and Mrs. H. Spinden of Doon. She was the oldest of the family.
