GEORGE VAN DYKE, 84

Funeral services for George Van Dyke of Rock Valley will be held in the Methodist church there at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9. He passed away Sunday, April 5, at the Sioux Center hospital at the age of 84 years and 22 days after an illness of several weeks. Rev. M. L. Jones will officiate at the funeral and interment will be in Valley View cemetery.

Mr. Van Dyke was born at Veendan, the Netherlands, March 13, 1869 and came to this country in 1890 and settled in Rock Valley. In October, 1914 he was married to Christina Kalverskoten at Canton, S.D. At that time he moved onto a farm near Inwood where he farmed for several years. After retiring from farm life he moved to Rock Valley and resided there until the time of his death. His wife preceded him in death in May, 1948.

He leaves to mourn two adopted children, Cornelia, Mrs. Robert Borders of Key West, Fla. and Henry Van Dyke of Norfork, Va., one brother Joe of Artesia, Calif. and a sister, Mrs. Assina Dieters of Larchwood.
