Obituary Anna Statema.
Mrs. Anna Statema, age 94, of Orange City, passed away Monday, April 23, 1990 at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.

Anna was born June 9, 1895, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the daughter of Andrew Jansma and Anna De Jong Jansma. At the age of ten, her family came to the United States, settling in Sioux County. On February 26, 1915, she married Peter Statema at Ireton. They farmed at Ireton their entire married lives.

Mr. Statema passed away February 6, 1959, at Ireton. In 1960, Mrs. Statema moved to Orange City. In March of 1977, she became a resident of the nursing home. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include nine children, Anna Zomermaand of Sioux Center; Arthur, of Ireton; Clarence of Hawarden; Betty Sikma of Hull; Frank of Zeeland, Michigan; Madelyne Huizenga of Orange City; Geneva Burggraaf and Priscilla De Jong, both of Rock Valley; and Peter, of Ireton; 48 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John, and two infant children.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 26, at the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City, with the Rev. Ralph A. Pontier officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton, under the direction of the VanEuen-Oolman-VanGelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
