MRS. BERT SMIT.
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church in Orange City, October 15, for Mrs. Bert Smit, 77, of Orange City, who died at the Orange City hospital October 12. Services were conducted by the Rev. Donald Lenderink and burial was made in the Newkirk cemetery.

The former Anna Vander Poel, was born at Orange City January 1, 1893. She was married to Herman Morel in 1912. He died in 1931. She was married to Bert Smit in 1932. He died in 1959. Mrs. Smit lived on a farm northeast of Orange City before moving into town.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Peter Kleinwolterink of Orange City, and Mrs. Douglas Ostlund of Bertha, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Bob Den Hartog of Boyden; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Arie M. Bomgaars of Orange City; and a brother, Henry, of Sanborn.
