Jim Blankespoor, age 51, of Inwood passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 8, 1999, at a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Inwood, with the Rev. Dave Heilman and the Rev. Rich Kooistra officiating. Burial was prior to the services in the Richland Cemetery at Inwood.

Mr. Harvey James Blankespoor was born March 15, 1947, at Le Mars, Iowa, to Henry M. and Wilmyna (Nibbelink) Blankespoor. He attended Rock Valley and Inwood Christian Schools, graduating from Western Christian High School in 1964. He married Sandra Meendering on March 28, 1967, at Inwood. He farmed near Inwood until moving into Inwood in 1988, where he owned and operated the Inwood Body Shop.

He was a member of the Air National Guard, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, the
Christian Reformed Church, having served as both an Elder and a Deacon. He was also a member of the Inwood Christian School Board, the Inwood Commercial Club and the Canton VFW.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; three sons, Kelly and his wife Kim of Inwood, Darin and his wife Denise of Sioux Falls, and Tim and his fiancee Leah Kooima of Rock Valley, Iowa; three brothers and their wives, Morry and Rose of Pella,
Iowa, Dave and Pat of Littleton, Colorado, Bob and Phyllis of Inwood; two sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Dale Buskohl of Hartford, S.D., Lois and Lyle Van De Griend of Orange City, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Kenzie, and Alex James. He was preceded in death by his father on May 13, 1995.
