Obituaries – Harriet Vermeer.

Harriet Vermeer, 84, of Sioux Center died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Sioux Center Community Hospital. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Rev. Roger Voskuil officiated. Burial was held prior to the memorial service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home.

Harriet was born May 15, 1917, at Sioux Center, the daughter of Albert and Dena (Vermeer) Schimmel. She married Bill Vermeer on Jan. 4, 1941. They moved in with Bill's parents so Bill could farm with his father. The couple retired to Sioux Center in 1991. Mrs. Vermeer was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors included three daughters, Diane and Bob Sandbulte of Escondido, Calif., Judith and Curt Punt of Detroit Lakes, Minn, and Beverly and Jan Schuiteman of Orange City; two sons, Jerry and Sharon of Maurice and Wade and Barb of Sioux Center; a brother, Arie and Maggie Schimmel of Davis, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
