HALDERMAN, SCHREIER, MILLER

Rites Here Monday for Life-long Resident, Mrs. C. Halderman

Mrs. Clifford Halderman, nee Scheier [i.e., Schreier], a native Altonite, died at the Orange City hospital June 3 after a brief illness.

Katharina Schreier was born at Alton June 19, 1888. She was married Sept. 17, 1912 to Peter A. Miller of Alton and six children were born to the union: Margaret, Mrs. Herman Schwarz of Alton; Marie, Mrs. Albert Daugaard of Dell Rapids, S.D.; John P. and Andrew P. Miller of Portland, Oregon; Loretta, Mrs. Geo. Douglas of Philadelphia, Penn.; Francis (Frank) of Litchfield, Staff., England; Emma, Mrs. Donald DeSmet of Hudson, S.D.

Mr. Miller died March 15, 1924. His widow was married July 1, 1943 in Sioux City to Clifford Halderman, who survives her, together with the children and three stepchildren: Oscar Halderman of Sioux City, Mrs. Thomas Nowak of Long Beach, Calif. and Herbert E. Halderman of Norwalk, Cal. Paul Halderman, another stepson, was killed in action on Okinawa.

Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nick Koch of New London, Minn.; Wm. Schreier of Albert City; Mrs. Paul Staab of Pipestone, Minn.; Joe Schreier of LeMars; Frank and Jake Shreier of Manson and Bernard of Milwaukee.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church here Monday, Msgr. Reising officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Friedmann, Ollie Schwarz, Joe Schwarz, John Schnoes, Ed Herrig and Theo. Schwebach.

The two sons from Oregon came for the services, also Herbert Halderman and his sister, Mrs. Nowak from California, along with the other children and their families and many friends of the family. She was a devoted mother and loyal friend.
