Funeral services for Bert Vander Maten, who passed away Dec. 4, were held Wednesday, December 7, at one o'clock at the Sheldon Holland Home and at 2:00 at the Middleburg Reformed church with Rev. A. J. Newhouse officiating. Burial was in the Middleburg cemetery, with the Coop. Burial Association of Sioux Center in charge of arrangements.

Bert was born in the Netherlands, November 12, 1870 and came to America in 1885 with his parents, six brothers and three sisters. He lived on the farm with his parents and brothers and sisters until 1946 when he went to the Sheldon Holland Home.
