ENNEMA, SIEBERSMA, DEJAGER

Lucy Ennema, 88, of Orange City died Wednesday, April 2, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Jack Gray officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Ennema was born August 23, 1908, in Maurice, the daughter of Martin and Gertrude (Siebersma) DeJager. She was raised in rural Orange City. She married Sam Ennema on June 29, 1928, in Orange City.The couple made their home in Northwest Iowa, mostly Sioux County. In the early 1960s, they moved into Orange City, where she was employed in the housekeeping department at Orange City Municipal Hospital for several years. He died March 14, 1966, in Orange City.
She was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include a son, Martin of Sheldon; five daughters, Margaret and her husband Leonard Hackett, Berdella Brown, all of Orange City, Kathryn and her husband John Vander Plaats, Gertrude and her husband Lloyd Woudstra, all of Sheldon, and Dorothy and her husband Bill Zuercher of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sisters, Etta DeJong and Elizabeth Dykstra, both of Orange City, and Harriet Wassenaar of Redlands, California; 25 grandchildren ; 54 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; three sons-in-law, Andrew Oordt, Russell Vande Brake and John Brown; a brother, Steven De Jager; two sisters, Grace De Vos and Jeanette Den Hartog; and three grandchildren.
