Geurt Vande Kieft

Funeral services were held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for Geurt Vande Kieft 87, retired farmer and longtime resident of Sioux Center who passed away at a Cherokee hospital Thursday.

Service were conducted by the Rev. Luke Tamminga and burial was made in the Rock Valley Cemetery with Vander Ploeg Funeral home in charge of arrangements

Mr Vande Kieft was born November 17, 1877, in The Netherlands. He was united in marriage with Minnie Van’t Hul on Fehruary, 1906, and to this union 6 children were born, all of whom survive him. Mrs Vande Kieft passed away July 29, 1949.

The children are William of Lynden, Wash., Minnie (Mrs. H. Feenstra) of Sibley, Reka (Mra J. Sinkey) of Ireton, Wilbert, Gertrude (Mrs G Nyhof) and John all of Sioux Center

Other survivors include 23 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren, five brothers. Maas of Pipestone. Minn., Marinus of Inwood, John of Grand Rapids, Mich., Rev. Wm. of Modesto, Calif and Gerrit of Grand Rapids, Mich., one sister, Minnie (Mrs Vogelaar) of Grand Rapid. Two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Vande Kieft was a charter member of the Reformed church at Steen Minn. and had served as an elder in Steen at Ireton at the Bethel church here
