William Van Beek

Funeral services for William Van Beek, 83, of Volga, S.D., were held Saturday morning at the Christian Reformed Church. Burial was in the
Trinity Cemetery at Colman, S.D., under the direction of Eidsness Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, Nov. 10, at his home. Van Beek was born October 10, 1899, in The Netherlands and came to the United States at the age of 11. He married Hattie Hoogeboom on October 13, 1921, in Ireton and they farmed near Doon, Estelline, S.D., and Volga, before retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles, Lynden, Wa.; and William, Jr., Volga; eight daughters, Mrs Jake (Cora) Post, Mrs Clarence (Harriet) Mast, Mrs John (Gertrude) Dykhouse and Mrs Hubert (Janet) Clapp, all of Volga; Mrs Alvin (Alice) Starkenburg, Bruce, S.D.; Mrs Egbert (Wilhelmina) Croll, Edgerton, Mn., Mrs John (Viola) Lakos, Mainstee, Mich., and Mrs Alvin (Geraldine) Schmidt, White, S.D; a sister, Mrs Gertrude Int Veld, Inwood; three brothers, Ed and George, both of Lynden, and Albert, Rock Valley; 52 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren
