December 1, 1955 - April 29, 2013

Mr. David Mouw, age 57, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 3, at 2:00pm, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Donald De Kok and the Rev. Harlan De Jong will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

David Keith was born on December 1, 1955, in Orange City, the son of Vernon John and Mary Ellen (Boonstra) Mouw. He was raised at Orange City, where he attended the Christian elementary school and graduated from the Maurice-OrangeCity High School. He also attended the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon for two years.

On August 14, 1976, he married Doreen Faye Folkema at the Alton Reformed Church. They first made their home in Orange City and then moved to Middleburg. In 1986, they returned to Orange City to stay.

Dave’s first employment was as a mechanic at the Punt-Cambier Motor Company in Orange City for two years. He then transferred to the Diamond Vogel Paint Company in Orange City, where he worked for the past 37 years.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, where he participated in work projects. He also served as an emergency medical technician for the Orange City Area Health System ambulance service.

Mr. Mouw enjoyed camping, remodeling, spending time with his grandchildren, watching Nascar events (He was a Dale Earnhardt fan.), and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of more than 36 years; a daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Chris Putzier, of Cherokee; two sons, Jason Mouw, of Cherokee; and Jonathan Mouw, of Orange City; four grandchildren, Raistlin and Samara Putzier and Briella Mouw and Parker Mouw; a grandson to be born in July, Tyler David James Mouw; his mother, Mary Mouw, of Orange City; and two brothers and two sisters and their spouses, Terry and Joey Mouw, of Orange City; Peggy and Dennis Faist, of Aurelia; Tim and Kathy Mouw, of Holland, Michigan; and Sara and Chris McKenna, of Christ Church, New Zealand.

He was preceded in death by his father.
