William Van Surksum, 64 of rural Doon died Friday, May 5, 1995, at the Royal C, Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital at Sioux Falls, SD.
Services were Monday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Ia., with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Surksum was born June 17, 1930, in Rock Rapids, the son of John and Gertrude (Rempt) Van Surksum. He served in the U.S.Marines in the Korean War from December of 1951 to December of 1953. He worked for the Keeler Brass Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids, Mi, from 1954 to 1964. He then lived in the rural Doon area, where he farmed and worked at various jobs in the area. Mr. Van Surskum was a member of the Doon American Legion.

Survivors include three brothers, Richard Van Surskum of Rock Valley, Gary Van Surskum of Sioux Falls, SD, and John Van Surksum of Doon; and two sisters, Mrs. Pete (Grace) Van Veldhuizen of Canton, SD, and Mrs. Cornelius (Johanna) Teunissen of Bryon Center, NI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bernard Van Surksum.
