October 6, 1921 - April 20, 2013

Mrs. Dorella Kleinhesselink, age 91, of Orange City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, Iowa.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, April 26, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink and Mr. Thomas Hydeen will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Dorella was born on October 6, 1921, at Orange City, the daughter of Nick and Minnie (Huitink) Huisman. She was raised at Orange City.

On February 15, 1945, she married Joe Raymond Kleinhesselink at Maurice. They farmed the Kleinhesselink family farm at Alton, where she was a homemaker and an active farm wife. She also served as a clerk at the Van Gelder Jewelry Store in Orange City. Joe passed away on August 11, 2005, in Sioux Center.

In 2007, Dorella moved to the Franken Manor in Sioux Center, and in December of 2011, she transferred to Royale Meadows.

Mrs. Kleinhesselink was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she participated in a circle and was active in the Blocks and Knots Quilters.

She enjoyed making afghans and doilies and fixing puzzles. She made baby caps for newborns for the University of Iowa, and she liked attending her grandsons’ and great-granddaughters’ activities.

Survivors include her three daughters, Cheryl (husband, Stephen) Person, of Tipton; Marla (husband, Myron) Toering, of Sioux Center; and Dorenda Ohm, of Brookings, South Dakota; five grandsons, Mick (wife, Emily) Toering, Matt Toering, Justin (fiancé, Michelle) Vande Weerd, James (fiancé, Missy) Vande Weerd, and Travis (fiancé, Camille) Person; four step-grandchildren, Amber (husband, Tyler) Peper, Adam Ohm, Amanda (husband, Ben) Quam, and Alex (wife, Maureen) Ohm; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Peytan Toering; three step-great-grandchildren, Quinn Peper and Olivia and Lincoln Quam; a sister, Hilda Vander Meide, of Orange City; and three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Huisman, of Orange City; Evelyn Huisman, of Michigan; and Alma (husband, Milton) Bogaard, of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kevin Ohm; three brothers, Henry, Alvin, and an infant Huisman; and a sister, Marie Bergsma.
