Sioux Center News, December 13, 1962

Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church in Orange City at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 14, for Mrs. Ed (Nellie) Vander Schaaf, 75, former Sioux Center resident, who died at the Orange City hospital December 12.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Raymond Van Heukelom and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vander Schaaf was born in The Netherlands, October 7, 1887. She was married to Ed Vander Schaaf at Hull, March 1, 1911. Her husband preceded her in death June 30, 1953.

Survivors include two sons, The Rev. Henry Vander Schaaf of Steen, Minn., and John Vander Schaaf of Orange City; four daughters, Mrs. G. W. G. Hulstein of Sioux Center; Mrs. Robert Remmerde of Rock Valley; Mrs. Richard Burggaaff of Boyden, and Mrs. Herman Boersma of rural Sheldon; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Other survivors include three brothers, Wm. Rikkers of Hull; the Rev. John Rikkers of Staunton, Ill, and the Rev. Henry Rikkers of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Roetman of Hull; Mrs. Dick Oostenink of Hull, and Mrs. Gerrit Oostenink of Hull.

One sister, Mrs. Lillian Van Batavia, preceded her in death.
