Hawarden Independent, July 22, 1926

Mrs. J. C. Bonney received a letter Tuesday from her brother, C. H. Blake of Danbury, Conn., informing her that his wife had passed away at 5 o'clock Sunday morning in a hospital at New Haven, Conn. Mrs. Blake was attending summer school at New Haven and was taken suddenly ill last Thursday. She submitted to an operation Friday but she never regained consciousness and died from internal hemorrhages. Mrs. Blake was born in Connecticut but she came to this vicinity about 30 years ago and was united in marriage with C. H. Blake 25 years ago. Mrs. Blake was engaged in teaching school while here and following her marriage both she and her husband taught school at Hudson, Canton and Beresford. She was about 55 years old and was still engaged in the teaching profession. Two years ago this summer Mrs. Blake visited here and in nearby communities where she had taught. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Vernon Blake of Danbury. Her many friends in this community will be sorry to learn of her sudden death.
