Age: 96 years, 3 months, 6 days
Funeral Service: July 9, 1999; American Reformed Church, Orange City, Iowa

Interment: West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, Iowa
Lillian was the daughter of Wiebe and Annie (Sipma) Vander Schaaf. She was raised in the Newkirk area and graduated from Northwestern Classical Academy in Orange City in 1923. She attended summer sessions at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and taught in a rural school in Sioux County. On March 30,1926, she married William Top at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City. In December of 1987, Mr. and Mrs. Top became residents of the Augustana Home in Minneapolis. Mr. Top passed away January 15, 1996, in Minneapolis.

Lillian was a member of the American Reformed Church, where she had been active in her church Circle.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Dr. Willard and Esther Top of Sioux City; her daughter and her husband, Lila and Alvin Netten of Bloomington, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Patricia Morehead, William Top, Anne DoCarmo, Jane Ryan, and David Netten; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Stuart, and Joe Vander Schaaf; and four sisters, Maggie Vander Velde, Bertha Duistermars, Ella De Valois, and Kathryn Van Surksum.
