MARIE VAN KEKERIX
Marie Van Kekerix Schmidt, age 90, of Plover, Wisconsin, originally Rock Valley, Iowa, died November 26, 2012, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Plover while under care of Ministry Hospice Care. Funeral Services were held Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley with burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Marie was born on October 15, 1922, in Pella, Iowa to Cornelius and Maria (Van Dorp) Blom. She moved to Rock Valley, Iowa, where she attended school. Marie married Jim Van Kekerix on December 28, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived in San Diego, California until the end of World War II. After the War they returned to Iowa, farming near Rock Valley and Rock Rapids, Iowa, later moving to Sheldon, Iowa. After Jim's death in 1972 she worked as a food service and health care provider
in Sioux Center.

Marie married Lester Schmidt on April 29,1978, and they lived in Storm Lake, Iowa. Lester passed away in 2001 and she continued living in Storm Lake until 2009 when, due to failing health, she moved to Wisconsin, to be closer to family.

Survivors include her son, Marvin Van Kekerix and wife Rebecca Wiegand of Stevens
Point, Wisconsin; grandson two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson;
four brothers, John (Tillie) Blom of Rock Valley, Arie (Clazina) Blom of Inwood, Iowa, Cornelius (Jean) Blom of Corsica, SD, and Henry Blom of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, an infant son, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
