Alton Democrat, January 4, 1913

A telegram received by Grandma Byrne Tuesday afternoon from Siloam Springs, Ark., brought the sad announcement of the death of Miss Zana Byrne. About a year ago Zana Byrne was taken sick with a complication of heart and nervous trouble and was not out of her bed for several months. When spring came on she gained a little and about September first was able to be moved to Arkanas. The family made the more solely for the benefit of her health. There she improved until who could walk out and was quite herself again. The grandparents, living here, did not know she had taken worse and the sudden news was a great shock to them. Zana was a great favorite among the young people of this community where she lived practically all her life. Announcement as to the funeral or burial was not given in the telegram.
