Mrs. Ray Grotter, nee Dena Van Surksum, was born April 11, 1907, one of twin girls of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Surksum at Boyden. She was united in marriage to Raymond Edward Grooters on Dec. 27, 1929. To this union a daughter was born. Mrs. Grooters parents and a sister preceded her in death.

She had undergone an appendix operation in the Hull Hospital but her condition was beyond help of medical science and death came on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5 in the hospital.

She is survived by the eight year daughter, Leone Mary, the husband, three sisters, Mrs. John Oostra of Rock Valley; Mrs. Henry De Jongh, her twin sister of Hull and Mrs. Louis B. Van Batavia of Boyden and 4 brothers Gerrit of Hull; Jake and John of Bellflower, California and William of Hull.

The funeral was held in the Christian Reformed Church at Sanborn on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Straks and Rev. Van Rees officiating. Interment was in the Hope cemetery at Hull.
