An Old Settler Gone. Webster Finley, one of early settlers of his city died at ten o'clock Monday morning from heart failure following an attack of pneumonia. Mr. Finley had been in poor health all winter and a week before his death was taken with pneumonia, from the effects of which he did not have strength to recover and heart failure followed.

The deceased was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, April 12, 1851. He was married Sept. 4, 1873 to Miss Phoebe Ann Smith. In 1880 they removed from Ohio to Calliope and have made their home, in this vicinity ever since. Nine children were born to them, five of whom, four daughters and one son, are still living. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church Rev. Wm. Wallace preaching the funeral sermon. The large edifice was filled with friends of the deceased, showing the esteem in which he was held in the community in which he had lived so long. The floral offerings were beautiful and were presented by friends, The Ladies Aid society, Young Ladies Aid, Mess Frederick's Sunday School class, teachers of the public schools, high school class, kindergarten class and the Woodmen of the World.

The services at the cemetery were conducted by the local lodge of the Woodmen of the World, of which he was a member in good standing, and in which fraternal order he carried a life insurance policy of $1000.

The sympathy of all is extended to the stricken famity in their deep bereavement.
