Last Rites Held Wednesday For Chelsea Williams Chelsea Williams, 45, a long time resident of Hawarden, died Sunday evening at the Veterans hospital at Sioux Falls from cancer.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Associated church with Rev. John C. Thorns in charge. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, jr., sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Whispering Hope," with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as accompanist. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home. Members of the American Legion, who attended the services in a body, were in charge of the military graveside sites. Pall bearers were Bob Koob, Elmer Bell, Ben Beyer, John Morgan, Ed Lienhart and C. B. Thompson.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Halleck Williams, Chelsea Williams was born at New Castle, Ind., May 20
1908, but spent his childhood at Gifford and Eldora, Iowa. He came to Hawarden at the age of 16, making his home with Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Wilson for main years and was employed at the Wilson bakery.

He served six months in World War ll and then received a medical discharge. He was married to Miss Helen Schiefen December 30, 1944, and to this union was born one son.

After the war he became a member of the American Legion and he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and he Associated church. For a number of years he served as custodian of the Eagles lodge. Last August he entered the Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls.

Survivors are the widow, one son, James;, five brothers, Harl, Floyd, Gene and Otis of Eldora, Iowa, and j Ralph of Albion, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Audrey Stull of Union, Iowa, Mrs. John White of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Miss Jeanette Williams of Eldora, Iowa.
